Once again our nation's sovereignty is being threatened by the United Nations. This treaty, aimed at reducing mercury emissions, sounds innocent until the real implications of the treaty are examined. The United States must never let the United Nations dictate policy.
GENEVA — A new and legally binding international treaty to reduce harmful emissions of mercury was adopted Saturday by more than 140 nations, capping four years of difficult negotiations but stopping short of some of the tougher measures that proponents had envisioned. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5iYkVjxcKeeVIcbXYxTcK-F76XyWw?docId=5709db279a1744b68d04f32a4ff284d3
Now look at what is banned by the treaty:
Proponents of the treaty say it will set meaningful controls and reductions on a range of products, processes and industries where mercury is used, released or emitted. These would include medical equipment like thermometers, energy-saving light bulbs, mining and cement and coal-fired power industries.Swiss environmental ambassador Franz Perrez said the treaty "will help us to protect human health and the environment all over the world." http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-205_162-57564846/treaty-to-reduce-mercury-emissions-signed/
It won't be long before the United States is overrun by blue helmeted UN soldiers who will seize our thermometers. Our God given right to keep and bear thermometers will be infringed on. We must act now - before it's too late. So please join me and 98.6% of all Americans in our sit-in demonstration to be held at the Washington Monument on April 1st of this year. Our demonstration will begin at noon in front of the Smithsonian where the history of thermometers resides. After we put on our tinfoil hats, we will insert our thermometers into our butts and march past the Capitol Building where the Senate will be debating the ratification of this insidious treaty. We will continue on to the Ellipse. Then we will encircle the Washington Monument where we will commence the sit-in. Because of the thermometers this will be considered the most painful sit-in demonstration in history. They will be able to hear our screams at the White House and in Congress.
