The media reports that there is nothing to indicate what the motive was for the Sandy Hook massacre.  Connecticut State Police report that they have recovered "significant evidence" the the perpetrator's mother's house including a damaged hard drive from the SOB's computer.  They say it will be months before a report is issued.  People in the media have linked the carnage to gun control, religion, mental health, bith control, homosexuality, video games, movies, morality, school prayer and some want to arm teachers.  Some say we need armed police officers to protect schools.  There was a Sheriff’s Deputy, Neil Gardner, at Columbine.  One of the shooters fired 10 shots at Gardner, who returned four shots from his .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, before the wacko disappeared into the school.  The deputy couldn't stop the attack.

I've seen the media pointing fingers at everything except themselves.  My own theory is that many of these sickos who perpetrate these atrocities are seeking attention.  The Columbine duo made videos and kept journals that indicate their plan for a major bombing to rival that of the Oklahoma City bombing. They even discussed hijacking an aircraft at Denver International Airport and crashing into a building in New York City.  They wanted more than their fifteen minutes of fame, they wanted to be in history books.  These psychos are attention whores.  They want to make the news.  They want headlines.  They want their picture in the paper and on TV.  And the media gives them exactly what they want.  But, the media can help reduce the frequency of these attacks.  They are probably some sick individuals who are jealous of all of the media attention the Sandy Hook shooter is receiving.  Somewhere a crazy copycat is contemplating doing something even more heinous to grab even more media attention.

The media can take three simple steps to discourage future attacks:

1.  NEVER REVEAL THE MANIAC'S NAME!!!
      Call him the shooter, the killer, the perpetrator, the crazy SOB or the asshole, but don't reveal his actual name.

2.  NEVER SHOW THE MANIAC'S IMAGE!!!
      Blur his image, photo-shop it, draw graffitti on his face to ridicule him, but don't make him famous.

3.  DO NOT EVER PUBLISH A MANIAC'S MANIFESTO!!
      When the shooter has a journal, video logs, blogs or a manifesto -- never publish it.  We should never let the assholes have a soapbox.

These attention whores want to be famous.  So the media should deny them fame.  The shooters should remain anonymus.  The media should ridicule them and their behavior.  The attention should be focused on the victims.

How can we help?  If you have a magazine or newspaper that has a photo of the Sandy Hook shooter, grab a sharpie and deface it.  Make they guy look stupid.  Add a lame caption.  And cross out his name from each article.  Try to remember the victims not the shooter.
