The British warship, HMS Romney, arrived in Boston Harbor on May 17, 1768 to enforce the Townshend Acts.  These Acts were tariffs imposed on goods entering the American Colonies.  Captain John Corner needed more seamen to man the vessel so Boston locals were kidnapped and pressed into service.  Bostonians were outraged and attacked the British kidnappers.  As the situation heated up the American ship, Liberty (which belonged to John Hancock) was seized by British Marines.  Colonists attacked the Brits and many British officials fled to the HMS Romney.  Events escalated and culminated in the Boston Massacre in 1770.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Romney_(1762)

Historians recently discovered documents that indicated the HMS Romney also brought a secret weapon to Boston.  This weapon was the world's first robot.  It was designed to take control of the American colonies if a revolution began.  During a serious storm in 1769 the HMS Romney was hit by high winds and high seas and the robot slid off the deck and sunk to the bottom of Boston Harbor.  The robot, named for the ship, was called "Romneybot".  It apparently wandered around underwater for almost 200 years.  Then it eventually climbed up on the mainland to resume its mission to take control of America.

The robot was badly damaged from being underwater for so long and it dragged itself into an American Motors automobile dealership in search of parts to repair itself.  A sympathetic mechanic helped do repairs and when he found out the name of the robot was Romneybot, he assumed it belonged to the company president, George Romney.  George Romney took possession of the machine and used his considerable resources to upgrade the robot and make it seem almost human.  He treated the robot like a son.  When his real son, Willard was killed in a car accident in France in 1968, George Romney decided to use the Romneybot to replace his dead son.  His engineers were able to duplicate Willard's physical features and even re-programmed the Romneybot to behave much like Willard.  Eventually George Romney, bitter after losing his bid to become president in 1968, decided to use the robot to take control of America.  George Romney passed away before Willard the Romneybot could complete its mission.  But robots are relentless and they never give up.  Romneybot has been trying to seize control of America since 1768.  It was defeated in the primaries in 2008.  The Romneybot said, "I'll be back."  It is.

We humans must band together to stop this dangerous machine.  We must vote for President Obama to prevent Willard the Romneybot from taking over America.
